moo2marathon....the journey has begun!

so the journey has begun! a few weeks ago, my good friend ashley foster started talking with me about something called USA FIT marathon program to which I kept telling her...have you seen me lately? i'm just getting back on the "couch to 5k" program....after much discussion, she has talked me into it and I am pumped...I have had mixed emotions from several friends...it seems like half laugh and half say "i know you can do it." I know a lot of it is physical but most of it is mental and it's time for me to set a goal and achieve it.

another good point that was encouraging this weekend was seeing my pal, michelle and her family- she and darren are also doing the white rock marathon in dallas which is crazy since they live in monroe and i live in shreveport and we hadn't talked to each other about it....that will make it for a big accomplishment since we used to run together and since she's a great friend too...plus, it will make for a a great weekend at the race and another person to help with accountability.

I always have had a difficult time losing weight but my goal is to lose 60 pounds and complete a half marathon on december 14th in dallas, tx at whiterock marathon.

Yesterday morning was memorial day and me & ashley boose went for a 3 mile "run/walk" at the park...i didn't quite make it running a mile w/o stopping which showed me how far i have to go, but I know I can do it with a lot of prayer, hard work, sacrifice, and consistency, I can do it. I'd also like to do a triathlon so last night I also did an almost 6 mile bike ride down the riverfront.

This accomplishment will be huge for me and I've put it in my mind to do this for me and for all the people that need someone to show them they can do it too...i believe achieving this goal and getting into shape will help my total life, plus, I have always been athletic and loved the outdoors and this will give me the confidence to do more again.

so here it goes, today has been good so far - i'm not really sore from yesterdays running & biking because I have been working out for a while. breakfast was an egg white/turkey sausage sandwich on whole wheat english muffin...lunch was broccoli and grilled chicken and of course a lot of water...This afternoon is 45 min-1 hour of cardio and 1 hour of weight training w/ thomas ogle (chest, back, tris, and abs)

I'd really like to accomplish this and also help other people see this type of "impossibility" become a reality. Nothing in life is worth achieving without taking someone with you, right?

December 14th will be here before I know it, so it's time to get busy! with God, all things are possible

"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." deut. 31:6

A quote I came across in Runners World! "There will be days I don't know if I can do a marathon. There will be a lifetime knowing that I have"
