4 miles

yesterday was a little over a 4 mile run w/ some walking intervals especially after 2 miles. melissa, ashley, and lj were also there yesterday so that rocks. vanessa has definitely given me extra motivation to keep going, and she doesn't know it yet, but as soon as she beats her battle w/ cancer - we're going to do a race together =)

michelle, darren, megan, andee', and jon-mical were camping in benton this weekend so i got to spend some time w/ them and "attempt" to fish LOL....after all the father's day stuff today, thomas may come help us fish since my attempt was so unsuccessful LOL

today is my "off" day, tomorrow running starts up again =)

lets get it started

last night i went to a discussion at sport spectrum about running and nutrition, although, i'd still like to talk w/ someone about running and nutrition for people that are trying to lose weight as well as meet a performance goal.

tonight is 20 minute run according to schedule...I'm not quite up to running 20 minutes straight yet without stopping, but can for about 12-13 minutes so will do my best to "break through the wall" and get it done =)

I hopefully will start a running class tanya tingle told me about that is tuesday and thursday mornings at 6am...I'm waiting to hear back from the coach first though on signing up and location, etc.

one shot

the beginning of usa fit shreveport

today was the time trial for usa fit shreveport...i was sooo nervous - i thought i was going to be sick LOL =) but it was awesome...i knew a few folks there and everyone was so encouraging...we did 2 miles and they didn't give out the official times, but at the mile mark I was at 12:00 and then I think by the time on my phone i finished the 2nd mile in 16 min making my total time around 28 minutes, so yea, i have a while to go (since that should be my 3 mile time) but i have 27 weeks to get better =)

I'm pumped! I'm going to a thing at sports spectrum tomorrow that is supposed to be informational about nutrition, hydration, running stuff, etc.

i can't wait to go again next saturday...it's a lot of great people coming together to do something BIG...I love it! =)

Movin' Right Along

Last night was leg workout and cardio....got back to the gym this morning and did 40 minutes of incline treadmill & bike cardio and 1 hour of back, chest & abs then had a nice whole wheat english muffin w/ egg white and turkey sausage and it was soooo good - i'm glad I didn't have another one w/ me b/c I probably would have eaten it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Me & Boose are going to run tonight again...I'm excited...Saturday is coming up soon! USA FIT!

Time to get to work =)

one step closer

I got 3 miles done yesterday afternoon- i got my timed mile down to a 12 min mile (was a 14 min mile) and I'd really like it to be 10...I'm going to start trying to just try to run longer "times" and not focus on the pace/distance so much...i can't wait to go saturday to the time trial deal and get a real "plan" for the next 27 weeks until white rock marathon. i think that will help me a lot - i'm USUALLY better when I have a set plan of do this and when to do it and what to do.

still long way to go, but i'm gonna get there...i'm headed to work then doing cardio/weights at the gym then meeting boose at the park afterwards for more cardio (either walking or bike riding probably)

I think I've got 2 more folks roped into the whole marathon deal "insert evil professor laugh here" no, for real - i'm pumped...the more the merrier...after all, it's not worth going to the top of the mountain, w/o good people to share the experience w/ you - i'm excited

it's gonna be a good day, one step closer... =)

13.1 to 26.2

i changed from half marathon to marathon yesterday...yes, i know it's crazy and yes, i may end up doing the half instead, but after watching the video and reading the coach info and seeing the first week training schedule, I am "going for the gusto" I'm going to do my best to do the full 26.2 mile marathon (with someone on hold at 911 of course) ha ha....moo2marathon!

There will be days...

post from ashley foster "A quote I came across in Runners World! 'There will be days I don't know if I can do a marathon. There will be a lifetime knowing that I have'

So true, so true....one week until I join the Red Cardinal Marathon running group w/ USA Fit Shreveport...tonight I am going to try and time my 1 mile run and my 3 mile run/walk-intervals on riverfront and then ride the bike some

I'm still pumped! I've added a few more carbs to the diet in the morning and post work out....I really need to lose weight and also really need to run this marathon and make it through the workouts so it's kind of an experiment right now LOL

This is gonna be a great journey...if Oprah can do it, well so can I!!! And I'm really trying to add some bike riding in as much as I can too b/c I'd really like to also do a triathlon...but one step at a time, literally =)

moo2marathon....the journey has begun!

so the journey has begun! a few weeks ago, my good friend ashley foster started talking with me about something called USA FIT marathon program to which I kept telling her...have you seen me lately? i'm just getting back on the "couch to 5k" program....after much discussion, she has talked me into it and I am pumped...I have had mixed emotions from several friends...it seems like half laugh and half say "i know you can do it." I know a lot of it is physical but most of it is mental and it's time for me to set a goal and achieve it.

another good point that was encouraging this weekend was seeing my pal, michelle and her family- she and darren are also doing the white rock marathon in dallas which is crazy since they live in monroe and i live in shreveport and we hadn't talked to each other about it....that will make it for a big accomplishment since we used to run together and since she's a great friend too...plus, it will make for a a great weekend at the race and another person to help with accountability.

I always have had a difficult time losing weight but my goal is to lose 60 pounds and complete a half marathon on december 14th in dallas, tx at whiterock marathon.

Yesterday morning was memorial day and me & ashley boose went for a 3 mile "run/walk" at the park...i didn't quite make it running a mile w/o stopping which showed me how far i have to go, but I know I can do it with a lot of prayer, hard work, sacrifice, and consistency, I can do it. I'd also like to do a triathlon so last night I also did an almost 6 mile bike ride down the riverfront.

This accomplishment will be huge for me and I've put it in my mind to do this for me and for all the people that need someone to show them they can do it too...i believe achieving this goal and getting into shape will help my total life, plus, I have always been athletic and loved the outdoors and this will give me the confidence to do more again.

so here it goes, today has been good so far - i'm not really sore from yesterdays running & biking because I have been working out for a while. breakfast was an egg white/turkey sausage sandwich on whole wheat english muffin...lunch was broccoli and grilled chicken and of course a lot of water...This afternoon is 45 min-1 hour of cardio and 1 hour of weight training w/ thomas ogle (chest, back, tris, and abs)

I'd really like to accomplish this and also help other people see this type of "impossibility" become a reality. Nothing in life is worth achieving without taking someone with you, right?

December 14th will be here before I know it, so it's time to get busy! with God, all things are possible

"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." deut. 31:6
